After using [protect][/protect] for so long,
how can you expect us to upgrade and have to change all previous Posts to [hidepost][/hidepost] ??!!!!??
That is a seemingly impossible task to do.
Is there an easy way to do that in WordPress ??
    Is there a Change-In-All-Posts command ??
Thank-you for your great! plugin ...
but please change it back to [protect][/protect]
or at least make it settable/variable.
    Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!

There a way to change your old tag to new hidepost tag through Option page, just go to Option -> Hidepost Option and use it.
In previous version I made it settable, but it's not a good way to manage the plugin, and I decided to change it to one tag only.

Is it in new version included Google visibility option?

Cái này thì chưa có trong bản này và cũng chưa có plugin nào hỗ trợ luôn.
Mình giờ hơi bận, có thể 1 thời gian nữa mình sẽ nghĩ đến chuyện thêm tính năng này vào

Hi there! I like this plugin a lot because it's the most simple to install, understand, and use. However, I noticed two things when I just installed this on a new domain I'm working on:

1.) [hidepost] does not work when using the "Read More" feature in 2.7 -

2.) the comments on the post can still be read, so commenters can essentially give away the basic content of the hidden post anyway

    • January 18th, 2009 at 15:15 | #9

I didn't tested using Hidepost tag with open tag before the Read more and close tag after it, so maybe there's a problem.

About the comment, the only a way to prevent user copy the content from the post is edit the comment yourself.

Hi, I really love the plugin and its simplicity to use, but... I'm afraid I can confirm that in WP2.7, the text of excerpts (e.g. when looking at a listing of posts in a certain category) are out it the open - not only that, even the [ hidepost ] tags are visible! Here's one example, generated by the EC3 (event calendar) plugin, showing a page of a certain date with posts of a given category (events):
    http://www.nitaonline.org/?m=20090204&cat=22

Not so good, that... Hopefully you can find a fix for this weird change in 2.7 by which category listings are parsed outside your plugin!

    Hi,
In my RSS, the contents which I set to hide with hidepost are visible in rss. Could you fix it?

Note that only YOU ( when you're logged in ) can see the content in the RSS feed, try to logout and refresh the feed again, the content should be hidden

The Excerpts problem is a known-bug, I'll release a fix when I have enough time.
    Thanks.

Quick workaround: just add some more text or content - when the text with the hidepost tags drop below the excerpt's range, it's safe. Not the most elegant, but it works - and it's usually quite justifiable to add some text to introduce "only visible when you're logged in". Plus, this issue only arises with content that has the tags at or near the top.

      Not that big a deal...

I cannot get hidepost to work at all on my site; (2.7) but I think it has something to do with saving the changes; when I enable hidepost and add the appropriate text, then click on 'save changes' the screen refreshes and the 'enable' checkbox becomes unchecked, and all the text that I filled in disappears, yet the message "changes saved" appears. Is this normal?

Did you try the newest version, if it does, it must be something wrong with your site.
Try to disable all other plugin and recheck again

Tired reading all old comments :), I hope that I didn't miss some bugs :)

Hi, love the HidePost plugin. Just a couple of queries - do we have to use [hidepost] or is it configurable to something shorter like [hide] or even [h].

Secondly, is there a way to inject a little HTML around the revealed text like a DIV with a class so that we can style it differently?

  16. March 28th, 2009 at 20:27 | #20

Argh! I have just discovered it doesn't work on Pages, only Posts. Can you suggest a way I can get it to do both - I can hack a bit myself if necessary but don't know my way around the WP internals.

  17. March 28th, 2009 at 20:32 | #21

I thought it was, it should work on page ( if the page's theme call wp's the_content )
About the "HTML" things, you can add your tag in the option page, just change the text showing.
And last, you cannot change the tag to another shorter version and something like that.
btw, I changed the plugin's page so you should head to the new 1

  18. March 28th, 2009 at 20:43 | #22

    @Rick
Cancel that last one, I'm an idiot. It does work but I had a typo in [/hidepost]

  19. March 28th, 2009 at 20:46 | #23

Thanks for the replies - good stuff. Sorry for using the wrong page, I thought when it said "The plugin page moved here" it meant *here*!
